May 2019 Issue of School Nutrition Magazine

Ready to give your breakfast and lunch programs a jolt? In the May edition of School Nutrition, we are spilling the beans on the rise of popularity of in-school coffee shops, and their associated perks. Several school nutrition directors share their successes, barriers and challenges when bringing café experiences directly into their schools.

The implementation of coffee programs is just one way to spice up your school meal programs. Two U.S. schools have swapped the traditional serving lines for serving platters as a way to foster school camaraderie and boost participation.

And remember, school nutrition departments are not an island: The school nurse is a fellow wellness warrior and can be an invaluable partner/resource. And, keeping our promise to America’s children kicked off at SNA’s 2019 Legislative Action Conference (LAC) in Washington D.C. in February. Relive the moments and see the impact school nutrition advocates made on Capitol Hill through the photo essay recap.

All this and more is brewing in the May edition of School Nutrition!
