Data Bites: NSLP and SBP Participation Analysis Now Available! 2019-04-29Here at SNA we have sliced and diced the newest NSLP and SBP numbers into some tasty data bites. Some of the high-level findings include: Overall Average Daily Participation: Lunch: An average of 29.77 million students participated in the NSLP each day in the 2017-18 school year. This is a 0.84% decrease in the average daily number of students participating compared to the same time-frame of the previous school year, and a 6.14% decrease when compared to the 2011-12 school year. Breakfast: An average of 14.69 million students participated in the SBP each day in the 2017-18 school year. This is a 0.28% increase in the average daily number of students participating compared to the same time-frame the previous school year, and a 14.55% increase when compared to the 2011-12 school year. Average Daily Student Participation in Free, Reduced, and Paid Lunch and Breakfast Lunch: Compared to the 2016-17 school year, there was a very slight increase (1.52%) in the average daily participation of students in free lunch, and decreases in the percentages of students participating in the reduced (-9.89%) and paid (-4.45%) lunch programs. Breakfast: Compared to the 2016-17 school year, there was a slight increase (1.68%) in the average daily number of students participating within the free category, and decreases in the paid (-3.49%), and reduced-price (-8.92%) categories.
