New Leadership Elected for SNA! 2019-03-01 Congratulations to all the winners in the 2019 SNA election! It was a great year for SNA elections! Engagement by SNA members was strong. New leadership was elected for the SNA Board of Directors, the Leadership Development Committee and the Industry Advisory Council. Some great leadership talent will be stepping up to lead the association in the years ahead. A total of 3,048 members voted, or 5.67% of the eligible members. In some previous years, voting was well below this year’s participation. We are pleased that with the increased security for online voting, requiring an individual email address and using an authentication link, voting participation was still strong. The state map on the SNA website and the accompanying data tracked the voting participation in states across the county during the two-week voting period. It looks like the move away from paper campaigning by mail to less expensive social media and email campaigning continued again this year. Electronic campaigning clearly enables candidates to reach more members. This year, the candidates for President-elect and Vice President participated in Facebook #LiveFromMyDesk interviews, hosted by SNA members Stefanie Dove and Amanda Venezia. Those two positions were both on the ballot this year, following the 2018 Delegate Assembly’s approval to reinstate the Vice President position. There were some very enthusiastic, high energy campaigns! Voting for leaders of the association is an important responsibility of membership. You have a voice in choosing SNA leadership for the future. School nutrition programs face challenges on many fronts and SNA leadership each year provides direction and leads actions to protect and strengthen the programs for the children you serve. Your vote matters! A special thanks to all the 2019 ballot candidates! Each of them made an important commitment to serve school nutrition programs and you, SNA’s members, through leadership at SNA. We hope they will continue to share their leadership talent at SNA and consider future leadership opportunities.
