Get a Sneak Peek of #ANC19 Pre-Cons 2019-04-19 To continue feeding America’s children, school nutrition professionals need up-to-date, accurate and curated information to help them do their jobs. That’s why SNA members love the yearly Annual National Conference (ANC), because of cutting edge education sessions that deliver training, skills and information on a wide variety of subjects such as farm-to-school initiatives, breakfast in the classroom programs, unpaid student meal debt, marketing and social media. All of these, and more, will be discussed during SNA’s 2019 Annual National Conference in St. Louis. But were you aware, that in addition to the great education sessions during the conference, there are 15 additional pre-conference workshops which will kickstart your learning experience? Attendees can choose from full-day, half-day or new two-hour express pre-cons on everything from knife and cooking skills and innovative menu planning to financial training, marketing shortcuts and decoding nutrition regulations. Pre-conference speaker Stefanie Dove, RDN, CDN, SNS; Coordinator of Marketing & Community Outreach, Loudoun County (Va.) Public Schools shares what she will be discussing during her sessions, and who she is most excited to meet at #ANC19 in St. Louis. SNA: Which sessions are you leading during #ANC19? Stefanie Dove: I have the pleasure of leading two preconference workshops with fellow NextGen professionals this year! First up is “Social Media and Graphic Design Shortcuts for the Busy SN Professional” with Liz Roesel, followed by “Ask the RDs: Understanding the WHY—Decoding Nutrition Regulations and Food Allergy Confusion.” In addition, Amanda Venezia and I are talking about the power of live video during our “#LIVEfrommydesk: LIVE at #ANC19” session; then, team #SNASquadGoals (Amanda Venezia, Donette Worthy, Keshia Williams and I) will be leading a session on the power of lateral mentoring. SNA: People will be meeting up in St. Louis; whom are you most excited to meet? SD: I love that the NextGen presence has expanded over the past few years. Networking helps develop and cultivate relationships in our industry, so it is always important. Exhibitors- I enjoy visiting as many exhibitors as possible and always stop by the produce booths to see new resources, nutrition education materials and marketing materials they have available. Exhibitors are the experts for their products and services, so this is a wonderful time to ask specific questions or provide feedback on what would help you and your program. SNA: What is one fun fact most people don’t know about you? SD: That I am actually shy. I have mastered the concept of “fake it till you make it.” People do not believe that I get nervous striking up a conversation, but it is true! I can speak in front of thousands and be fine, but there is something about walking up to just a couple of people that is much more difficult for me; I just push myself to get out of my comfort zone. Everyone assumes that because I have a rather bubbly personality that I am also outgoing, but that is not quite true. Want to learn more about speaker Stefanie Dove?
