Become Inspired by the Incredible Story of Ashley Rhodes-Courter

SNA's 2019 Annual National Conference

During her childhood, school was a sanctuary for Ashley Rhodes-Courter. Born to a single, teen-mother, she grew up in Florida’s foster care system where, sometimes, the only meals she had regular access to were at school. After nearly 10 years of surviving foster care, she was adopted at age 12. She excelled in school and by age 22, was a New York Times best-selling author.

Ashley will share her incredible story of resilience, philanthropy and survival as the closing keynote speaker at SNA’s 2019 Annual National Conference in St. Louis. As a speaker, she helps audiences identify and overcome their failures, encourages community engagement and teaches how to turn setbacks into successes. Before the conference, Ashley was able to share a little bit more about herself and why she’s excited to attend #ANC19.

ANC 2019 Pre-Conference Session Speaker Stefanie Dove

SNA: What are you most excited about coming to ANC?
Ashley Rhodes-Courter:
Aside from being a big advocate of many facets of the education system, I am now a mother of three school-aged children in first grade, kindergarten, and pre-k. I am excited to share my personal story, but I am also eager to attend this conference to grow and learn more as a concerned mother and social worker who works directly with high-risk and high-conflict families in my own community.

SNA: What is a fun fact most people don’t know about you?
I run a non-profit organization The Foundation for Sustainable Families, that provides direct services on a one-acre urban farm. With our clients and students, we grow food for the local community, create learning and self-sufficiency opportunities, and work to engage youth in meaningful ways.

After you attend this session you are sure to close out your conference re-inspired and reminded, in a deeply personal way, of how impactful your role is in the lives of children who might otherwise fall through the cracks. Don’t miss Ashley and the other fantastic speakers we’ve lined up for you at #ANC19—register early and save!
