Rock the Vote

2018-11-05

The time has finally arrived: Are you ready to rock the vote?!

Election Day 2018

The midterm elections are upon us with community polling places opening their doors bright and early on Tuesday, November 6. (Need help finding your polling place?) Regardless of what side of the aisle you’re on, your vote matters. From local elections to national races, your vote could influence how future legislators vote on measures that impact your community, school district and even school nutrition programs. Voting helps your voice be heard! (And it earns you a coveted ‘I Voted’ sticker. Don’t forget to take a #VoterSelfie.)

Before going to your polling place, do check your state’s regulations on what kind of documentation is needed to secure a ballot. If you are not registered to vote; don’t fret! There are a handful of states where individuals can register the day of elections. They include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, Utah, Vermont, Washington DC, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Four years ago, about 35% of the voting population participated in the last midterm elections—the lowest turnout since 1942, according to FairVote, an organization committed to making every vote count. With a government elected by its citizens, the results from the midterm elections have the power to steer the country in any number of ways. Register your opinion with your vote.
