Show Some Love for National School Lunch Week 2018! 2018-10-15 National School Lunch Week 2018 has finally arrived— how you will celebrate #Lots2Love about school lunch? Share your plans and our new meme on social media with the hashtags #NSLW18 and #Lots2Love and don’t forget to tag SNA on Facebook (@SchoolNutritionAssociation) and Twitter (@SchoolLunch)! The ways to celebrate NSLW are as many and varied as school lunches themselves. Just a few examples we’re hearing about how SNA members are celebrating include inviting the principal and local officials such as first responders to be special guest servers, offering contests with fun prizes and giveaways, decorating cafeterias, and making use of free SNA resources to engage students. SNA members also love to try out new menu items, serve student favorites and conduct taste tests during NSLW. October is also National Farm to School Month and schools love to promote locally grown vegetables and fruits, incorporate the harvest of the month, and donate produce from school gardens to local food banks. SNA President Gay Anderson, SNS highlighted the benefits of healthy school meals and how school nutrition professionals are incorporating more locally grown foods into meals while educating students about the foods grown in their communities in this blog post. Take the #NSLW18 love poll and tell us your favorite part of celebrating National School Lunch Week!
