New Leadership Elected for SNA!

Congratulations to all the winners in the 2018 SNA election!

It was the most exciting year in recent SNA election history! Engagement by SNA members was much higher and new leadership was elected for the SNA Board of Directors and Leadership Development Committee. Some great leadership talent will be stepping up to lead the association in the challenging years ahead.

There was a significant increase in the number of members who voted! A total of 3,690 members voted, or 7.02% of the eligible members. Last year, only 2,475 members voted and participation was low at 4.68%. The interactive state map on the SNA website again this year allowed members to engage in tracking the voting participation in their state and across the county during the two-week voting period.

Congratulations to Ohio! The state ranks first for the highest percentage of voting participation per eligible members, at 45.2%. This is the highest voting participation in a state seen in a long time! Ohio also claims first place for the highest total number of voters with 617 members casting their vote!

It looks like the move away from paper campaigning by mail to less expensive social media and email campaigning made a difference this year. Electronic campaigning clearly enables candidates to reach more members. There were some very enthusiastic, high energy campaigns!

Voting for leaders of the association is an important responsibility of membership. You have a voice in choosing SNA leadership for the future. School nutrition programs face challenges on many fronts and SNA leadership each year provides direction and leads actions to protect and strengthen the programs for the children you serve. Your vote matters!

A special thanks to all the 2018 ballot candidates! Each of them made an important commitment to serve school nutrition programs and you, SNA’s members, through leadership at SNA. We hope they will continue to share their leadership talent at SNA and consider future leadership opportunities.
