SNA Announces New Members of the 2018-2019 Certificate & Credentialing Governing Council 2018-07-02Congratulations to the newly elected and appointed members of the Certificate and Credentialing Governing Council (Governing Council) who will begin their terms on August 1st, 2018. Industry Representative: Janet Allen, SNS - Non-Commercial Education CDS at Gordon Food Service, Greater Detroit Area, Michigan. Janet will be serving a three-year term. Newly Credentialed School Nutrition Practitioner Bettina Applewhite, MS, RDN, LDN, SNS - Area Supervisor, Southwest Area, Office of Food and Nutrition Services Baltimore, Maryland. Bettina will be serving a two-year term. School Nutrition Practitioner: Camille Soule, SNS - Nutrition & Wellness Budget Coordinator, Paradise Valley Unified School District, Phoenix, Arizona. After completing a 2-year term as the newly-credentialed practitioner, Camille was appointed to serve an additional three-year term as a school nutrition practitioner. State Agency/Educator Kathy Peavy, SNS - Assistant State Director at Georgia Department of Education School Nutrition Division, Georgia. Kathy will be serving a three-year term. This means they are an independent and separate body, and any decision they make, including the results of an exam appeal, cannot be overruled by the Board or Staff. The Chair and new members of the Governing Council are elected by existing Governing Council members. To serve on the Governing Council, members must sign a consent form adhering to the confidentiality policy. SNA takes pride in this example of best practices for membership organizations with certificate/credentialing programs. These hard-working volunteers along with the Exam Working Group help ensure that SNA’s Certificate and Credentialing Programs are regularly updated to reflect current practices and professional standards requirements in school nutrition.
