Speaker Spotlight

Dayle Hayes, MS, RD
Social Media Guru/Nutrition Consultant
School Meals That Rock

Give us a sneak peek of what you have planned for ANC! Which sessions are you leading during the conference?
I am incredibly lucky this year because I get to present with school nutrition super-stars from four different districts:

Saturday: Sharon Schaefer, SNS, from Nebraska and I are doing a Pre-Conference Workshop called, “No Need to Reinvent Anything: FREE (or Very Low-Cost) Resources for Every Aspect of Your School Nutrition Program.” We guarantee it will be worth the price of admission!

Sunday: Joseph Pettit from Charleston (S.C.) will be sharing his story of going from social media newbie to ANC presenter in just two years. I’ll be talking about the importance of “Marketing and Social Media Strategies That Work: Telling Your Story Effectively” to increase participation and customer satisfaction.

Monday am: Everybody will want to attend this one! “Perfecting Pop-Up Concepts: Using Simple Carts and Kiosks to Test New Options, Engage Your Customers and Keep the Excitement in School Meals.” Attendees will hear from April Liles, RD, SNS, Haylee Dussault, RD, and myself as we promo pop-ups from their district in Waltham (Mass.), as well as from other districts around the country.

Monday pm: Tune in as Jeanne Reilly, DTR, SNS, from Windham-Raymond (Maine), and I bring a Facebook Live version of our 5,600+ member group to ANC during “LIVE from Saint Louis: It’s TIPS for School Meals That Rock!” You can join us in the Convention Center—or log in from your computer, notebook or phone from anywhere in the world. How cool is that?!

People will be meeting up in St. Louis; whom are you most excited to meet?
Honestly, I am looking forward to meeting as many of the TIPS for School Meals That Rock members as possible. By July, we should have well over 6,000 members, and I would like to get photos with as many of them as I can!

One fun fact most people don’t know about you?
I am "car-less" by choice. (My children did not take away my car keys!) I gave my Subaru Outback to my son and his wife when they had a baby—and now I walk or bike everywhere that I need to go in my small hometown of Bozeman, Montana. I am very happy not to worry about snow tires or having to dig my car out of large drifts!
