Annual Fund The School Nutrition Foundation was established in 1964 to provide SNA members with financial support for education and professional development, as well as to support research and offer scholarships. For more than 50 years, the Foundation has been educating and empowering the men and women who provide healthy nourishment to school children.Your support of the Foundation is an investment in the school nutrition profession. Contributions are used to assist professionals in school nutrition by providing the skills, the knowledge, and the insight needed to meet the challenge involved in providing nutrition and in developing healthy habits so that students are well-nourished and are prepared for success in school. Please join with your friends and colleagues in supporting the Annual Fund with a tax-deductible contribution before December 31. 2015 Annual Fund CampaignThe goal for the Annual Fund for 2015 is $35,000. More importantly, the Foundation wants to increase the number of SNA members who support the Annual Fund. 2015 Annual National ConferenceThe SNF Booth at the 2015 Annual National Conference (ANC) in Salt Lake City in July was an exciting place! Bells were ringing and members were adding their names to a colorful list of names and states as they made contributions to the Annual Fund. A total of 91 contributions were made totaling $3,282 for an increase in number of gifts of 167.6% as compared to contributions at ANC 2014. The increase in total was 69.6% compared to the prior year at ANC. The average gift was $37.06.In the Spring 2015 Foundation Focus newsletter, we asked for volunteers to assist with the SNF Booth at ANC. The response was far greater than expected. We extend a special “thank you” to the 50 individuals who volunteered to assist at the SNF Booth and who informed visitors about the Foundation and secured contributions to the Annual Fund. (To qualify, the contribution must be $10 or more and must come from a non-industry SNA member.) The number of contributors is more important than the amount of the gifts. In each SNA membership division (1-500; 501–1,000; and 1,001+), those who contributed to the Annual Fund from the respective State Association with the highest percentage participation will be entered into a drawing for two reserved seats for the entertainment event at the 2016 Annual National Conference (ANC). We encourage you to provide those you know who are employed by the government with SNF’s five-digit CFC code, 22373, to make it even easier for them to give. Let them know how SNF supports education, professional development, scholarships and research in school nutrition, which enables SNA members to provide high-quality, low-cost meals to students across the nation. SNF is a member of Diabetes Charities of America as an organization that works to prevent diabetes. The Foundation helps prevent diabetes among school children by educating school nutrition professionals to prepare healthy meals and to build the foundation for lifelong healthy choices. As a member of this federated group, the Foundation is included among those organizations that are approved for the CFC campaign. The 2015 Campaign begins in September 2015 and continues through December 31.
