How to Earn Your SNA Certificate in School Nutrition Earning your Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3 SNA Certificate in School Nutrition shows your commitment to your profession and helps you stay current on the job. SNA’s Certificate Program is based on the standards of practice in SNA’s Keys to Excellence Program and, effective July 1, 2015 SNA’s Certificate Program will align even more closely with USDA Professional Standards. Get started to today by reviewing the requirements for each level of SNA's Certificate Program and download the application form. 3 Steps to Earning Your SNA Certificate in School Nutrition Step 1: Academic Experience and Requirements Determine if you have met the academic experience and requirements for the Certificate Level that you would like to apply for. You must meet all requirements for a specific Certificate Level prior to sending your application to SNA. Certificate Program Guide Get a jump start on your core courses by finding approved SNA Core Courses (in online and workshop formats). To review your college transcripts or supporting documentation by key area training topics, visit the Listing of Course Topics by Key Area. Step 2: Documentation and Payment Gather copies of all your documents using the checklist for the Certificate Level that you are applying for. A GED/High School Diploma is not required for Level 1. Individuals applying for Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in School Nutrition will be required to submit a copy of their High School Diploma/GED along with course documentation, application form and payment. Once you have determined that you qualify for a specific Certificate Level, complete and submit the application form, along with the fee and documentation to the address listed on the form. (Please allow 4-6 weeks for your application to be processed.) Certificate Program Application Step 3: Celebrate! Upon approval of your application, SNA will send you a Verification Letter to confirm you earned your SNA Certificate in School Nutrition. Then share your success and achievement with your friends, co-workers and the students you serve using the fun tools SNA created. NOTE: Individuals earn their Certificate in School Nutrition for a one-year period. To keep your Certificate current you must obtain CEUs within your annual certificate period and pay your yearly renewal fee. Incomplete Applications The application fee is non-refundable. If your application is incomplete, you will receive a letter listing additional documentation needed to earn your Certificate. Requested documents must be received by SNA within 30 calendar days of receipt of notice. If SNA received your documents after 30 calendar days, you will have to re-submit the entire application and pay the initial certification fee again.
