Kevin Woods, SNA Industry Representative, Resigns from Board February 14, 2014 – On February 13, 2014, SNA Industry Representative Kevin Woods, SNS, announced he is resigning from the Board of Directors, effective March 5, 2014. Following SNA bylaw protocol, Gary Vonck, vice president of education at KeyImpact Sales & Systems, will replace Woods as Industry Representative.“Although we are sad to have Kevin leave the board, we certainly understand and thank him for his service,” says SNA President Leah Schmidt, SNS. “We are pleased to have another dedicated Industry Representative willing to serve in Gary Vonck, and we welcome him back to the Board. At the time of SNA elections, Woods’ position focused on the K-12 segment; since that time, he has begun working at another company in a new role with responsibilities that do not focus on the school nutrition industry, “Resulting in no longer having the focus on the segment and my finger on its pulse and its nuances,” Woods writes in his final column for SNA e-newsletter, Industry Insider. “All of these aspects are required of the Industry Representative, so it would be unfair to my fellow industry members and SNA for me to continue in this role and not provide the attention it requires.”In the event of a Board resignation and vacancy, SNA’s bylaws require giving first consideration to the other candidate who ran for the position during the election. By following these procedures, the Board of Directors has voted and appointed Vonck to the position for the remainder of the term. Vonck was also appointed to hold this position on the 2012-2013 Board of Directors when the previous industry representative resigned. Both Woods and Vonck will attend SNA’s Legislative Action Conference (LAC) from March 2 to 5, 2014, in Washington, D.C., and Globe Food Equipment Company, where Woods is the vice president of sales and marketing, continues as an SNA member. Vonck’s appointment is effective March 5, the closing day of LAC.
