Additional Time Management Tips

In “The Race Against Time” in the November 2016 issue of School Nutrition, Kelsey Casselbury walks through how you can beef up your time management techniques. The article advises paying attention to how you spend your time and what your biggest distractions tend to be and offers other tips for rethinking how you approach time management. There were too many great tips to fit in the print article, so some of them are included here.

Bonus Tip #1: For heaven’s sake, get some sleep! You might think you’re getting more done because you stayed up late to finish a project, but are you really going to be in tip-top shape to tackle the rest of your workload in the morning? When you’re lethargic, you’re more likely to find yourself constantly checking your Facebook Newsfeed instead of filling out paperwork that requires your brain’s attention. Aim for seven to eight hours a night of shuteye.

Bonus Tip #2: If you work in an office environment and have the power to create schedules, designate one day a week as a “no meetings” day. On that day, everyone focuses on their individual work—no conference calls, no group chats, no work lunches.
