Time to Nominate School Nutrition Heroes for 2017

The School Nutrition Foundation's (SNF) Celebration of School Nutrition Heroes

When we hear stories about people in the school nutrition profession who are doing exceptional things to make a difference, we often think of the people that we know who also go “above and beyond.” If you know of such an individual, you have the opportunity to nominate an unsung hero for the School Nutrition Foundation’s (SNF) 2017 Celebration of School Nutrition Heroes.

The School Nutrition Hero recognition is not an award for those who do an outstanding job in school nutrition. Instead, it is intended for those special individuals who truly exceed their job to have a positive impact in the school and/or the community. Some of the accomplishments of past heroes include having started a homeless shelter or clothing assistance program, working with mentally challenged children/adults, assisting children in getting back in school, and helping students/families with food needs beyond the school meal program. Does this sound like someone you know? Help us nominate the 2017 heroes by submitting a nomination by Friday, October 21.

The five selected individuals will be honored on Monday, April 3, 2017, at the fourth annual Celebration of School Nutrition Heroes. This special fundraising event will take place at the J.W. Marriott in Washington, D.C., during SNA’s Legislative Action Conference (LAC). The event is the only fundraising event that the Foundation holds and the evening is essential to securing funding for the scholarships that the Foundation provides to SNA members annually.
