Share an “Unselfie” and Promote Giving Tuesday

2016-11-01

Countdown to Giving Tuesday: The School Nutrition Foundation will celebrate Giving Tuesday on November 29, 2016.

Did you know that “selfie” appears in the dictionary? Defined as: a photograph taken with a smartphone or other digital camera by a person who is also in the photograph, especially for posting on a social media website. The term has become a part of our vocabulary.

But, what is an “unselfie”? In promoting Giving Tuesday, which is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, the “unselfie” was introduced. Rather than being focused on the person in the picture, the photo is focused on the cause being supported on Giving Tuesday.

Support the School Nutrition Foundation (SNF) on Giving Tuesday 2016

Consider supporting the School Nutrition Foundation (SNF) this Giving Tuesday—November 29, 2016—by making an online contribution. Then, download a sign (two versions are available) and take an unselfie that indicates why you choose to support the Foundation. For example, for the SNA Regional Directors on the Association’s Board of Directors, they’re supporting the Foundation because they “want to give back.” Once you’ve taken your unselfie, share it on social media and encourage your friends, colleagues, and others to contribute to SNF on Giving Tuesday. You can also share your unselfie with SNF by emailing it to SNF Director of Development Janet Hedrick at jhedrick@schoolnutrition.org—your unselfie might just be featured on the SNF section of SchoolNutrition.org and on the SNF Facebook page leading up to Giving Tuesday.
