USDA Announces “Team Up for School Nutrition Success” Pilot

2014-09-18

Today, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced a pilot program, called “Team Up for School Nutrition Success,” aimed at providing technical assistance and peer-to-peer mentoring for school nutrition programs in need of additional support. The pilot program will be run by the National Food Service Management Institute (NFSMI) and will launch in USDA’s Southeast Region this November. State agencies will help USDA choose school food programs in need of more targeted assistance for implementing the new meal pattern and Smart Snacks. Participants will be provided an expense paid, tailored-made training workshop followed by peer mentoring from fellow food service directors.

After the pilot program concludes, the results and lessons learned will be utilized for further expansion of the Team Up for School Nutrition Success Initiative. SNA will provide assistance to USDA and other partner organizations. For more information on the program, please click here to read the USDA memo.
