Notice: U.S. Government Shut Down Possible October 1

2015-09-21

In preparation for a possible U.S. Government shut down beginning Thursday, October 1, SNA has reached out to USDA regarding any contingency plans. This shut down would occur only if Congress does not pass the necessary funding bills for fiscal year 2016 or a Continuing Resolution extending the current fiscal year by the September 30 deadline.

If this occurs, SNA fully expects the National School Lunch, School Breakfast, Child and Adult Care Feeding, Summer Food Service and Special Milk Programs to continue operations as they did during the 2013 shut down. In 2013, there was limited carryover funding available to support continued meal service. SNA also expects the USDA website to be unavailable during any shutdown and encourages members to utilize their State agency and SNA as a resource.

We will continue to provide information as it is available.
