Make a Difference on Giving Tuesday

2014-11-25

As we approach Giving Tuesday on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, you can assist the School Nutrition Foundation in providing the funds needed to offer educational programs, to sponsor meaningful research to determine best practices, and to provide scholarships for SNA members so they can continue their education and professional development.

You can assist in several ways:

  • First, you can make your personal contribution to the School Nutrition Foundation. The easiest way to make a tax-deductible gift is online at SchoolNutrition.org/GivingTuesday (click ‘SNF Donate Now’). Or you can send a check to the School Nutrition Foundation by using the Donation Form.
  • After you make your gift, take an UNselfie and post it on Facebook and other social media sites. You can also email your photo to snf@schoolnutrition.org and tell us why you support the School Nutrition Foundation.
  • Next, identify five other SNA members that you know and send each one an email message telling them that you have made a contribution and inviting them to join you in supporting the School Nutrition Foundation. Tell them why you support the Foundation and encourage them to consider a tax-deductible contribution on Giving Tuesday, December 2, 2014. You may even want to follow up your email with a phone call to remind them on Giving Tuesday.

Giving Tuesday, the day that follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday, is a global celebration of the power of philanthropy. On Giving Tuesday, the focus shifts from consumerism to giving to make the world a better place.

The School Nutrition Foundation is joining with thousands of other non-profit organizations in the nation and beyond to reach out to its potential supporters to ask them to make gifts on Giving Tuesday and to encourage those who have made contributions to reach out to their friends and colleagues to ask them to consider giving.

The School Nutrition Foundation looks to the members of the School Nutrition Association for support. These SNA members understand the importance of education, research, and scholarships provided by the Foundation. These efforts are essential to assist school nutrition professionals as they provide healthy meals to students and prepare them for success in the classroom.
