Giving Back on Giving Tuesday

2015-11-24

Can you believe it, Thanksgiving is just two days away?! On Thursday, as you sit down at the table with your family to give thanks for the year’s blessings, remember that you can help make a difference in someone’s year by making a charitable donation as part of the Giving Tuesday event on Tuesday, December 1st.

During the Giving Tuesday event, the School Nutrition Foundation (SNF), will join with individuals and organizations to come together for one common purpose: to celebrate giving and philanthropy. For the Foundation, Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to encourage support of its Annual Fund which in turn helps to increase professional development opportunities for members, as well as improve their access to school nutrition research and scholarships. Last year, the Foundation received almost $6,000 in donations during the Giving Tuesday promotion—which was more than 25% of the total secured in the entire preceding fiscal year!

Why should you support SNF during Giving Tuesday? SNF Director of Development Janet Hedrick explains, “Our scholarship stories [as seen here, here, here and here] highlight how important it is for us to provide education for our members, because whether they are pursuing an associate’s, a bachelor’s, or an advanced degree, each and every one of them has a passion for what they do—for feeding kids.”

The Foundation is encouraging members to a tax-deductible contribution online at www.schoolnutrition.org/GivingTuesday or by clicking here.

You can also be an ambassador and help promote Giving Tuesday by taking an UNselfie and sharing why you support the School Nutrition Foundation with our Giving Tuesday banners. Share your UNselfie photo on your social media and remember to share it with SNF via our Facebook page or by tweeting us at @BeyondBreakfast on Twitter.
