SNF Raises $6,427 on Giving Tuesday

Anyone who has ever received an SNF scholarship knows it can be a life-changing experience to be able to continue their education. SNA members celebrated the power of philanthropy and the importance of giving back to the profession by helping raise a total of $6,427 to support the Association’s School Nutrition Foundation (SNF) during the 2016 Giving Tuesday charitable donation drive on November 29. Monies raised will help fund a variety of important SNF programs, including scholarships, research and education offerings for school nutrition professionals.

This year’s Giving Tuesday totals were especially gratifying, as more than half of the gifts received were from first-time donors. A total of 36 individuals—six times as many as in 2015—generously answered the call. That number helped raise the total to 70 individual donations made – an increase of 66.7% from last year.

The Foundation also received a warm, helping hand from AccuTemp, a leading foodservice equipment manufacturer. AccuTemp had offered to donate $20 for every new gift made on Giving Tuesday— but it actually made this matching gift for every donor who gave $10 or more.

Donating on Giving Tuesday was not only a great way to support the school nutrition profession but also helped spread the word throughout the school nutrition community about the specific programs and services the Foundation has to offer.
