SNF Announces Grandview School District as the 2017 Baxter Equipment for Education Grant Winner

The School Nutrition Foundation (SNF) awards the annual Baxter Equipment for Education Grant to Marcia Wagner, Food Service Supervisor for the Grandview School District in Washington. This grant program was established in partnership with Baxter Manufacturing, a foodservice and bakery equipment provider, to help a deserving school better serve nutritious, great-tasting meals to its students.

As the 2017 grant winner, Grandview High School receives a Baxter OV310 mini rotating rack oven—designed with K-12 kitchens’ versatile cooking needs in mind. A multi-year warranty, delivery, set-up and start-up service will be provided by Hobart Service. Wagner is also awarded a $500 scholarship toward registration and travel expenses to attend and be recognized at SNA’s Annual National Conference (ANC) in Atlanta, Ga., this July, where she will be recognized as this year's grant winner.

Upon learning that Grandview earned the grant, Wagner said, “We want to offer students healthy eating options, but we haven’t been able to provide cooked vegetables because of the limitations of our current equipment. The Baxter OV310 oven will replace our equipment from 1978, and we’re looking forward to significantly improving and expanding our menu to serve nutritious meals and snacks to a greater number of students during the school day.”

Laura Barrentine, Marketing Manager at Baxter, said, “We commend the Grandview School District and Marcia Wagner for being focused on their students’ nutrition. We’re happy that we are able to help in that larger mission—one oven at a time.”

We've seen each year how many schools are in need of new equipment, and we're proud to offer a way to achieve that goal.”

Eligible foodservice professionals who are active SNA director-level members responsible for directing school nutrition programs at their school district are encouraged to apply for next year’s grant starting in the fall of 2017 at www.schoolnutrition.org/EquipmentGrants.
