SNA to Fill Board Vacancy

On Thursday, March 30, 2017, At Large Director Mark Bordeau resigned from the SNA Board of Directors to pursue a leadership opportunity with the New York School Nutrition Association (NYSNA). His resignation is effective immediately. SNA’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors are reviewing the Association’s bylaws to determine the procedure for filling a Board vacancy; an announcement is expected soon. Bordeau was elected in 2016 to a two-year term through July 2018.

In October 2016, the SNA Board approved a Standards of Business Conduct/Conflict of Interest Policy that precludes SNA Board members from serving simultaneously on the board of a state affiliate. While the Board approved a “grandfather” provision to allow current Board members also serving on a state affiliate board to serve out their respective terms, this provision does not allow an SNA Board member to pursue a new state board position during their term with the national organization. Bordeau, senior director of foodservices for the Broome-Tioga Board of Cooperative Educational Services in upstate New York, is standing for election as a candidate for vice president on the current NYSNA ballot.
