SNA Fills Board Vacancy 2017-04-20On Thursday, March 30, 2017, At Large Director Mark Bordeau resigned from the SNA Board of Directors to pursue a leadership opportunity with the New York School Nutrition Association (NYSNA). Bordeau was elected in 2016 to a two-year term through July 2018. Upon a review of the Bylaws, the SNA Board voted to appoint current At Large Director Lilly Bouie to complete Bordeau’s term, and former SNA Board member Ariane Shanley to complete Bouie’s term through July 2017. Shanley was a candidate on the 2016 Election Ballot for At-Large Director; she served as SNA Northwest Regional Director in 2010-12. SNA’s Bylaws, Article IV. Board of Directors, Section 6. Vacancies and Removal, states how Board vacancies should be handled for the remainder of the term, giving first consideration to other candidates who were on the ballot for that office at the time of election. The At Large Board positions were added to the SNA Board as part of the governance changes approved by the House of Delegates in July 2015. A proviso was included that all three new At Large Director positions be elected at the same time in the first year of the new structure, with staggered three-, two- and one-year terms so that a three-year election rotation could be established for these positions. The term lengths were determined for the three candidates based on the total number of votes candidates in the election with the candidates with highest number of votes elected to a three-year term, second highest to a two-year term and third highest to a one-year term. In July 2017, Stephanie Dillard, SNS, Geneva County (Ala.) Schools, elected by the SNA membership in February 2017, will be installed as an At Large Director, succeeding Shanley. She will serve a three-year term.
