SNA Celebrates #NSLW With New NDC Engagement Video

National School Lunch Week 2017

Happy National School Lunch Week (NSLW)! SNA knows members all across the country are pulling out all the stops to make sure to get every opportunity to wow student customers this week. NSLW’s 2017 theme, School Lunch: Recipes for Success, is all about showing all school stakeholders the value of school lunch, through delicious menus, creative ideas and nutrition education. But NSLW is just one week. School nutrition professionals face the challenge of engaging students all year long! You can always learn from best practices and helpful resources for new ways to entice students through those cafeteria doors!

You can add more components to your own recipe for student involvement. Have you checked out SNA’s Ingredients for Increased Student Engagement—online tools developed with support from the National Dairy Council (NDC) and Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP 60). Available at, the materials include activities, tips, ideas and marketing techniques that hit the highest bar available for reaching out to student consumers. Recently added is a brand-new video featuring NDC Student Ambassadors offering firsthand advice to cafeteria personnel.

INFORM yourselves about student needs by soliciting online feedback or providing school lunch staff questionnaires.

INTERACT with students via plays from the 2017-18 FUTP 60 Playbook.

APPRECIATE your students by saying “thank you,” even as they rush through the line.

So, as you celebrate and engage, find more ways to spice up your engagement by watching the video below or view the full-screen experience here.
