Congratulations to All the Winners in the 2017 SNA Election! 2017-04-17Thanks to all those who voted in the recent election for 2017 national leadership. positions! New leadership was elected for the SNA Board of Directors, Leadership Development Committee, and Industry Advisory Council Chair. Some great talent will be stepping up to lead the association in the challenging years ahead. It was exciting to be able to track voting on the new interactive state map on the SNA website this year that showed the number and percentage of eligible voters who were voting during the election period. Voting participation varied per state. South Dakota ranked as the state with the highest percentage of voters per membership at 25.41% while Alabama recorded the highest total number of state voters at 277. Overall, voting participation was low again this year. The total number of votes for the 2017 election was 2,475, representing only 4.68% of eligible voters. Voting was down 303 votes from the 2016 election. State leaders, make it a challenge in 2018 to increase the number of eligible voters in your state! Voting for leaders of the association is an important responsibility of membership. You have a voice in choosing SNA leadership for the future. School nutrition programs face challenges on many fronts and SNA leadership each year provides direction and leads actions to protect and strengthen the programs for the children they serve. Your vote matters! A special thanks to all the 2017 ballot candidates! Each of them made an important commitment to serve school nutrition programs and you through leadership at SNA. We hope they will continue to share their leadership talent at SNA and consider future leadership opportunities.
