School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) Credentialing Program

The Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) has officially recognized school nutrition dietetic practitioners, RDs/DTRs (registered dietitians and dietetic technical, registered) who have passed SNA’s School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) credentialing exam by offering them Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEU).

In seeking acknowledgment from CDR, SNA ensured that the four-hour, 220-question SNA exam was dietetics-related, that candidates must meet eligibility requirements and must also pass the examination for certification. RDs and DTRs that pass the SNS exam, can now earn 75 CPEUs. In recognition, this exam is listed in the CDR Professional Development Portfolio (PDP) Guide under Certification for Alternate Recertification Periods, Activity Type 545: SNA, School Nutrition Specialist.

The CDR is the credentialing agency and organization unit of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, which administers and enforces reliable standards for certification, recertification and the Code of Ethics by issuing credentials to individuals who meet these standards.
