SNA has designed an enlightening and insightful Industry Boot Camp that you will not want to miss, which will give you a comprehensive understanding and behind-the-scenes look at the foodservice industry that you will not find anywhere else. You will not just learn about school nutrition, market trends, procurement and bid specifications, USDA guidelines, meal charges and reimbursement levels and more, but most important - hear from and talk with USDA officials, foodservice directors and SNA leadership. The people who you want contact with the most.

Understanding your customers’ most pressing issues, problems and desires is important. Put yourself in your customer’s shoes. What makes SNA’s Fall Industry Boot Camp so special, is you are not just sitting in a lecture. Here, you get to tour a school cafeteria and talk directly with the director, manager, staff and students – your customers! Sample food, explore the back of the house, find out what equipment is used, how food is ordered, stored and ultimately served. Discover how meal menus are developed and what Offer vs. Serve is.

Depending on your product or service, you may find that your customers respond better to one type of product over another. Understanding what your customer likes is important. At the conclusion of the Boot Camp, you will participate in a moderated panel discussion with school nutrition directors from the greater Washington, D.C. area to discuss their food service programs, the products that appeal to their customers and the products they are looking for to increase participation in their lunch and breakfast programs. This venue will give you the opportunity to ask questions and get the answers related to food costs, purchasing and marketing challenges, and ways to build better relationships with your customers.
