SNA Members Undeterred by Disaster

2017-09-15

September continues to prove a challenge for first responders to U.S. natural disasters. Texans are picking up the pieces from Hurricane Harvey. Hundreds of thousands remain without power in the Southeast five full days since Hurricane Irma made landfall. Nearly 2 million acres of land are currently burning in one of the worst fire seasons ever experienced in this country. Three more tropical storms are active in the Atlantic.

SNA members all across the country continue to be among those who step up first to serve in the face of disaster. Social media is blowing up with stories of school nutrition professionals jumping in to help feed members of their communities and evacuees from others at school and church shelters. We salute all those who continue to put others first—and are doing so with a smile on their faces, evidenced by the accompanying photos from Florida’s Alachua County School Meals and N. Fort Myers Academy for the Arts.

SNA has contributed to relief efforts and continues to urge its members to lift up their peers across the country with financial donations, personal assistance and encouraging words and prayers.
