Celebrate School Nutrition Professionals!

2018-12-05

Every day, school nutrition professionals prepare and serve healthy and delicious school meals for 30 million students across the country. They face any number of challenges when planning their menus, including understanding and abiding by federal school meal regulations, making sure cafeterias have the necessary equipment and well-trained staff, and meeting the taste preferences of diverse student bodies—all on a very tight budget.

School nutrition professionals must also contend with short and crowded lunch periods, rising food allergies, and ensuring eligibility for federally reimbursable meals for the one in six children in America without consistent access to adequate food.

But did you know that school nutrition professionals do more than just serve meals? A well-nourished student has:

  • Better concentration
  • Improved Test Scores
  • More Energy

School nutrition professionals help make students more successful—one tray at a time, and turn cafeterias into warm and welcoming environments for all students.
