SNA Touts Healthy School Meals at Back to School Time

2017-08-21

As students head back to school, SNA is educating parents and legislators on the benefits of nutritious school meals. Through media interviews, outreach to family bloggers, posts on SNA’s Tray Talk blog and Facebook page and a new video, SNA is showing how school nutrition professionals ensure students enjoy well-balanced, appealing meals at school.

In a recent appearance on the nationally syndicated show, “Coffee With America,” SNA spokesperson Linette Dodson, PhD, RD, LD, SNS, FAND, of Carrollton City Schools (Ga.) showed off some of the healthy options available with school meals. Watch the interview here. SNA’s media outreach at ANC also resulted in numerous positive stories on healthy trends in the cafeteria. See the coverage on CBS 46, WSB-TV and Telemundo. SNA welcomed family bloggers to ANC to meet with school nutrition directors and learn how they are working to improve menus and meet students’ nutritional needs. Read recent posts from Redhead Baby Mama, JaMonkey, A Mom’s Take and Sweet T Makes Three.

SNA has shared these stories with Members of Congress as we educate legislators on the importance of supporting school meal programs. As Congress reconvenes for business after Labor Day, SNA will also share the new video, featuring several SNA members discussing the positive impact of school nutrition professionals on the lives of students. See the new video below and download the video here.
