The Call for Posters is now CLOSED.
Thank you to everyone who submitted a poster proposal.

The 28th Annual School Nutrition Research and Best Practices Showcase will take place during SNA's Annual National Conference (ANC) in Las Vegas, Nevada, July 9-12, 2018. The School Nutrition Research and Best Practices Showcase will feature two types of posters:

  • Best Practice Posters: These posters focus on best practices that school districts have recently implemented related to child nutrition.
  • School Nutrition Research Posters: These posters share findings from recent research on child and school nutrition.

Poster Proposal should be submitted by September 29, 2017, at 11:59 pm ET.

Awards will be given to one poster from each of the above categories. All posters and authors will be listed in the ANC Program Guide.

Graduate students or faculty members participating in the School Nutrition Research and Best Practices Showcase are eligible to apply for the Kathleen Stitt Award. This scholarship is used to help defray travel expenses incurred to attend ANC.

Guidelines for Acceptance of Poster Proposals:

Poster Review Process
Research and Best Practices poster proposals that are received by September 29, 2017 for the 2018 School Nutrition Research & Best Practices Showcase will be reviewed by the SNA College Section Chair and Nutrition and Research Committee before being accepted.

  • Accepted posters will be presented at the School Nutrition Research and Best Practices Showcase at ANC. Each poster must have at least one author at the conference.
  • The abstracts from accepted research posters will be published in the The Journal of Child Nutrition & Management.
  • Author contact information may be made public if an abstract is chosen for publication on SNA's website.

Guidelines for Poster Displays:

Poster presentations provide for informal visual and verbal exchanges between the poster author and ANC attendees.

  1. Poster displays must be set up prior to the start of the School Nutrition Research and Best Practices Showcase on Tuesday, July 10, 2018.
  2. A poster author must be at the poster display from 12:00-2:00 pm on July 10, 2018 to answer questions and share information with conference attendees.
  3. Each poster will have a corkboard approximately 4ft. [height] by 8ft. [width] on which to mount a poster presentation. Note that the posters do not need to take up the whole 4 ft. by 8 ft. space. Each poster presenter is responsible for their own supplies, including thumbtacks. Do not write, paint or make marks on the corkboard.
  4. Posters should include the title, authors’ names and affiliation, as well as information about the best practice or research study (as outlined in the submitted poster proposal).
  5. All illustrations, graphs, etc. should be finished prior to your presentation. Visual aids should be legible from a distance of at least 3 feet.
  6. Graphics should be simple, colorful, well labeled and legible.
  7. No special equipment—such as an audiovisual projector—is permitted. The entire presentation must be attached to the cork board.
  8. Extra copies of the success story or research findings can be made available for distribution.
  9. Poster authors can also submit an electronic version of their poster to SNA to be posted on the conference website.

Poster Awards

Awards will be presented based on the two categories: 1) research and 2) best practices in school nutrition. Poster displays will be judged on July 10, 2018 at the conference.
