USDA Revises Q and A Related to the Certification of Compliance with Meal Requirements for the National School Lunch Program

On July 16, 2012, the USDA released a revised memo addressing Questions and Answers Related to the Certification of Compliance with Meal Requirements for the National School Lunch Program.  Under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, an additional reimbursement of 6 cents per lunch is available for school food authorities certified to be in compliance with the new school meal patterns.

Further, here are SNA’s submitted comments regarding the Interim Final Rule on Certification of Compliance with Meal Requirements for the NSLP.  The deadline for you to submit comments is July 26, 2012.

 

SNA Submitted Comments to USDA Interim Final Certification Rule

On July 24, 2012, the School Nutrition Association (SNA) submitted comments in response to the Interim Final Rule regarding Certification of Compliance With Meal Requirements for the National School Lunch Program Under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 (HHFKA). 

SNA in its comments addresses: breakfast certification, certification timeframes, overlapping grade levels, and simplified nutrient assessments.

We encourage members to use SNA's comments for ideas when drafting their comments.
