July 25, 2012 – SNA President Helen Phillips, SNS, chose change as the theme of her 2011-12 presidency, and School Nutrition Association members stood up to accept this challenge, as well. To ensure that their schools and districts continued to provide quality meals to children, school nutrition professionals worked to understand the new United States Department of Agriculture meal pattern regulations, published in January 2012, and to prepare for upcoming related changes to their menus. As a profession, the Association continued its efforts to serve up change to successfully meet the needs of its members and of students across the country.
The top accomplishments are showcased in its 2011-12 Annual Report, now available online. Highlights include the Association’s leading role in a new coalition to expand the Chefs Move to Schools initiative, revisions to SNA’s Certification program and the launch of a digital edition of School Nutrition magazine.
