Reasons to Donate on Giving Tuesday

The School Nutrition Foundation Celebrates Giving Tuesday with Unselfies

and the Foundation

What:
As you probably know, the days after Thanksgiving are marked for shopping and buying with Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. In 2013, a group in New York established the Tuesday after Thanksgiving as Giving Tuesday to celebrate philanthropy and to encourage giving back.

When:
On Tuesday, November 29, the School Nutrition Foundation once again will join with other nonprofit organizations across the globe in celebrating Giving Tuesday. The Foundation began its efforts for Giving Tuesday in 2014 and in the last two years has raised over $10,000 for the Annual Fund.

How:
The day has several hallmarks: online giving is encouraged; social media is used to promote the day of giving; and people take “unselfies,” which are “selfies” with a twist, often holding up a sign that indicates how they’re giving back.

Why:
SNF’s goal for 2016 Giving Tuesday are $8,000 and 60 donors. Plan now to make a contribution to SNF’s Annual Fund on Tuesday, November 29, 2016.
