Jean Ronnei’s Family Chocolate Chip Cookies

Yield: Makes lots!

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Step 2. Cream together:

  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups white granulated sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup shortening

Step 3. Mix in:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsps. hot water
  • 2 tsps. vanilla

Step 4. Add in:

  • 4 cups white flour or 1 cup whole-wheat flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsps. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder

Step 5. Then, mix in…

  • 5 cups corn flakes
  • 3 cups oatmeal (quick or old-fashioned)
  • 12-oz. bag milk chocolate chips (I use Ghiradelli)
  • 1 cup coconut (optional)

Step 6. Bake until barely done to keep them moist and chewy!
