Governance Changes Approved

In July, during SNA’s Annual National Conference (ANC) in Salt Lake City, the Association’s House of Delegates approved all of the proposed bylaws amendments that will alter several facets of the Association’s governance structure, including the Board of Directors, committees, the election timeline and more. These changes are the culmination of an initiative that began almost two years ago, when SNA’s leaders set out to update the strategic planning process and use the resulting plan in making certain that the organization’s infrastructure is appropriately aligned with the plan for a sustainable organization that can achieve strategic goals and reflect contemporary business practices. For more details about the specific changes that have been approved, visit the Strategic Priorities page.

This final stage of the realignment process now leads to the implementation of the first significant changes in SNA’s governance structure in decades. A three-year transition plan has been developed for all national positions and their terms. Most notably, all current elected and appointed positions will serve out their current terms.

One of the first steps will be for the Leadership Development Committee (the new name for the Nominating Committee) to begin recruitment soon for three At-Large Director positions to be elected in February 2016 to serve on the Board. Stay tuned to for further updates about the transition process for adopting SNA’s newly approved governance changes.
