Expenses include airfare, ground transportation, and hotel accommodations, as well as conference registration and a per diem for meals.To apply, you must: Be a SNA employee or manager section member currently and for the last three years (having joined SNA no later than December 7, 2010) Have never previously attended LACPlease note that director level members are not eligible for this fellowship.SNF is happy to congratulate Janet Dunmyer of Zionsville Community Schools, Indiana, as the 2014 Josephine Martin National Policy Fellow! The application and selection process has been completed for 2014. Applications will be accepted for the 2015 National Policy Fellow in early 2015.Dr. Martin is a pioneer in the field of child nutrition. Launching her career at the Georgia Department of Education in 1950 as the assistant school lunch director, she soon became a vocal advocate for child nutrition, influencing legislation on the community, state and federal levels.The first Josephine Martin National Policy Fellow was awarded in 2013 to Sandi Walter, SNS, of Maryville, Tenn. To learn more about Dr. Martin and the Fund, click here. back to topANC First-Timer Scholarship The ANC First-Timer Scholarship gives SNA members from the employee and manager categories who have never attended SNA’s Annual National Conference the opportunity to take advantage of the valuable educational and professional development opportunities to advance their careers at this event.This scholarship is available to current SNA members in the employee and manager categories who have never attended SNA’s ANC. The member must be nominated by his or her district director. This $500 award is given to help defray travel expenses incurred to attend ANC.To be considered for this award, the applicant must: Currently be a SNA member Be a graduate student enrolled full-time in an MS or PhD program at an accredited college or university, or be a faculty member employed at an accredited college or university. The program of study should fall into one or more of the SNA Keys to Excellence subject areas. Operations Nutrition, Nutrition Education and Physical Activity Administration Marketing and CommunicationsScholarships include: SNF Professional Growth: The SNF Professional Growth Scholarship is funded by SNA members through a designated fundraising event. Scholarships of up to $2,500 each are awarded. Schwan’s Food Service: Schwan’s Food Service, Inc., makes an annual donation of $50,000 which provides funds to the SNF’s scholarship program. This scholarship enables SNF to “foster good nutrition in school lunch programs and to improve school foodservice management”. Scholarships of up to $2,500 each are awarded. Nancy Curry: Funded by Handgards, Inc., and friends of Nancy, this scholarship is for SNA members employed in school foodservice. One scholarship of $500 is awarded. Sandi Brooker Scholarship: The Sandi Brooker Scholarship is a way to ensure that Sandi’s positive impact on so many people is continued by helping others achieve the dream of continued education. One scholarship of $1,000 is awarded.The applicant must be an active member for a minimum of one year from February 1, 2013, with the School Nutrition Association (SNA) and have a history of employment in school foodservice. Children of SNA members are no longer eligible to apply for scholarships. The Baxter Equipment for Education Grant will award equipment to a school district in need of improving its school meal kitchen facilities through a competitive grant process.Equipment received from this award will consist of one (1) OV310 Mini Rotating Rack Convection Oven ( Electricor Gas), as well as: Stand base 2 - year parts & labor warranty Delivery & installation by Hobart Service Training/demonstration with sales representativeBaxter Manufacturing will work closely with the grant winner to ensure the proper unit is supplied for the utilities available, arrange delivery of the equipment to the district and ensure staff are trained to use the equipment.SNF is now accepting applications!
