SNA’s Annual National Conference (ANC) provides a unique experience for school nutrition professionals. ANC is the premier annual event for school nutrition and our educational sessions are on the cutting edge of the field. From the nuts and bolts to the latest hot topics, we provide our attendees a range of educational sessions to fit their professional needs.

To ensure high quality presentations, a volunteer committee representing SNA’s various member segments, in addition to a panel of experts, develop and identify timely topics based on the training needs of SNA members and emerging trends in school nutrition.

To guarantee conference program content that is relevant and targets the attendees’ needs, the committee reviews and rates all proposals. The committee may supplement programming by inviting speakers to address specific topics as identified.

Interested in Submitting a Proposal? What You Need to Know:

Proposals can only be accepted in the following three formats:

  • Education Sessions: 60-minute, interactive lecture session on a specific topic that is presented and discussed.
    Requirements:
    • Includes a brief question and answer within the 60-minute presentation.
    • Maximum of 3 speakers/panelists per session.
    • Sessions are set theater style and typically accommodate 150-600 attendees per session.

  • Roundtable Sessions: Small group discussions of approximately 60-100 attendees. Emphasis on participation and peer-to-peer engagement.
    Requirements:
    • Topics must be current and may be relevant to school nutrition regulations or general operations.
    • Must be interactive. Audience will have the expectation to participate in the topic discussions in groups for 60 minutes.
    • Maximum of 3 speakers/panelists per session.
    • Sessions are set in round tables and typically accommodate 100 attendees per session.

  • 4-Hour or 8-Hour Pre-Conference Sessions: Designed as interactive, highly collaborative training programs.
    Requirements:
    • Attendees expect to actively participate in group exercises with hands-on learning experience with those desirable takeaways.
    • Maximum of 3 speakers/panelists per session.
    • Sessions are set in round tables and typically accommodate 35-50 attendees per session.

*Please note: Pre-Conference, Education, and Roundtable Sessions are NOT to be used as a sales or promotional platform for any speaker’s company, products, or services. SNA reserves the right to halt speakers from this practice if the situation arises during their presentation.

Speaker Information

  • Speakers agree to be available on any day which SNA assigns the session.

  • Speakers do not need to be SNA members; however, if a proposal is accepted ALL speakers must register as conference attendees. Complimentary registration is non-transferable.
    • If the speaker plans to attend the conference only on the day of their presentation, they will be given complimentary registration only for the day of the presentation.
    • If the proposal is accepted and speakers plan to attend the full conference, they will receive the early bird price for their registration.
    • SNA does not provide speaker fees or travel expense reimbursement for pre-conference session and education session speakers.
    • SNA may provide honorarium for specific *approved* non-governmental agency pre-conference session speakers. The honorarium for the pre-conference session speaker is based on the number of hours for the session. See speaker guidelines for more information.
    • Speakers are expected to make their own travel arrangements unless otherwise mutually agreed upon in writing.

  • *Experience has proven that participation in SNA’s ANC programming has often provided exposure for speakers garnishing future speaking engagements; particularly with SNA state affiliates.

  • Exhibitors who are also speakers should note that while SNA will make every effort not to schedule your session during Directors-Only exhibit hours, due to the evolving nature of the schedule, we cannot guarantee that your session will not be scheduled during these hours.
