Roundin’ Up Inspiration

Whether you are a cook, a cafeteria manager, a nutrition education specialist, a district director (or maybe you wear all those hats—and more), Dallas is the place to be. To learn and grow with others committed to feeding America’s children, be sure to visit the Marketplace, the vibrant central hub of ANC. Here you can gather to hang out, exchange ideas, network and do business. You also can explore informational kiosks and meet with the SNA staff who manage the many programs and services available to you.

Chapter Leadership Day

Saturday, July 10
Need to brush up on some of your leadership skills? The 5th Annual Chapter Leadership Day is your opportunity to gather the fresh ideas that will help you lead your chapter through a successful year, as well as develop programs and services that will enhance your chapter and allow you to attract and retain members. You also will learn more about all of the SNA resources at your disposal. Breakout sessions provide opportunity for discussion, including the chance to express any issues confronting you and learning how these issues can be addressed. All chapter leaders are encouraged to attend this event.

NEW PRODUCT SHOWCASE

Saturday, July 10 - Wednesday, July 14

INSPIRATIONAL SERVICE

Sunday, July 11
Sunday morning will commence with a nondenominational inspirational service. This worship service will feature contemporary music performed by a chorale of talented SNA members.

School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) Credentialing Exam

Sunday, July 11
The School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) credential recognizes a high level of professional achievement and communicates to others that you possess broad knowledge of your profession, that you remain current in your field and that you care about serving safe and nutritious meals. To learn if you qualify to sit for the exam, call the SNA Service Center at (800) 877-8822 or click here for more details. The registration deadline is June 21, 2010.

State Awards Ceremony

Join your colleagues in honoring this year’s state presidents for their efforts to further the mission of the Association. Also, state and regional winners of the Louise Sublette Award of Leadership Excellence, Heart of the Program and the Outstanding Director of the Year awards will be recognized.

SNF Special Event: Puttin’ on the Glitz!

Get your team together, start practicing your lip-syncing act and sponsor a team for Puttin’ on the Glitz, a fun event where you will compete for prizes while supporting the School Nutrition Foundation’s educational programs. Form a team that can include industry, state officers, former national officers and other school nutrition personnel. Feeling a little stage fright? Come be a part of the audience, cheer on your peers and vote with your applause for the act you like best! Everyone is welcome to be a part of the audience, but space is limited, so be sure you indicate your intention to attend on the ANC Registration Form. Wellness Event to Change Our World

Grab a friend and prepare to get your dance on during the Global Child Nutrition Foundation’s annual wellness event, featuring the popular Zumba® cardio workout. When you take part in this event, you will be joining your school nutrition colleagues in showing support for stomping out global childhood hunger. Sponsored by General Mills Foodservice, NUTRIKIDS, Pierre Foods, Schwan's Food Service and Winston Industries.

Child Nutrition Showcase

Come look, learn and network at this year’s Child Nutrition Showcase! These poster presentations are the best way to learn about recent research and best practices in school nutrition, while mingling with colleagues from all corners of the country.

Member Section Meetings

SNA is dedicated to providing diverse programming to meet the specific needs of each membership section. These special meetings include a presentation from a professional speaker and also offer you an excellent opportunity to mingle with like-minded colleagues with whom you can share your common goals, achievements and concerns.

CULINARY DEMONSTRATIONS

Within the Exhibit Hall, you will come across one of the most popular features at ANC: the Culinary Demonstrations. Here you will discover new ideas and innovative ways to enhance school meals. Get ideas for new recipes and presentation skills to help increase participation. Hone your edge by learning culinary techniques and applying nutrition tips.

If you have been an SNA member for 25 years or more, be sure to take part in the Silver Circle luncheon held in your honor.

BIG Ideas Sessions

We know you have big questions about the critical issues facing the school nutrition profession today. We also know that you need big ideas to fuel your career, your program and your students. These education sessions will provide the answers you are seeking! Come fill your boots with cutting-edge ideas, out-of-the-box solutions and some of the best thinking in school nutrition! Be sure to check the onsite ANC Program Guide for these sessions, look for the chili pepper logo!

School Nutrition Foundation (SNF) Learning Lab

Make sure your ANC experience includes at least one visit to the SNF Learning Lab, where you can demo Marketing 101, the newest addition to SNA's School Nutrition University (SNU), and be entered to win a free registration for the full course. Also, if your district is considering applying for the District of Excellence Distinction in 2010-11, you'll want to learn about the new online application process and how Keys to Excellence can help you strengthen your program. Other Learning Lab highlights include demos of the Fuel Up to Play 60 and SNF's new podcast series on food allergy management.

Final Event: Kool & The Gang

Are you ready for a celebration like no other? Well, then pull on your boogie shoes and prepare to groove the night away, because this year’s ANC Final Event will feature the infectious beats and danceable tunes of Kool & The Gang. Having found that special sound at the unique intersection of jazz, R&B, funk and pop, Kool & The Gang rose to the top of the music world in the ‘70s and ‘80s. Since then, these beloved performers have sold more than 70 million albums worldwide and added an indelible chapter to American music history.

Formed by brothers Robert “Kool” Bell and Ronald Bell and five neighborhood friends, the group first burst on to the music scene in 1969. Before long, they were on their way to racking up an impressive list of accolades, including two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, 25 top-10 R&B hits, nine top-10 pop hits and 31 gold and platinum albums. Their memorable classics include “Get Down On It,” “Jungle Boogie,” “Ladies Night,” “Too Hot” and, of course, the instantly recognizable “Celebration.”

This memorable event is sure to be the highlight of ANC 2010, so grab a friend and plan to be there! The event will take place at 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 14, in the Convention Center. A ticket to the show is included in the full ANC conference registration fee. Make sure you indicate your intention to attend on the ANC Registration Form. Come on, let's celebrate!
