ANc 2010 Ed Sess

At ANC 2010, the importance of nutrition integrity is at the core of all education programming, resulting in the highest-quality sessions designed to provide you with development and training critical to this profession. This year, SNA has updated its program tracks to center around the four key areas of SNA’s Keys to Excellence and Certification programs. Whether you are looking to develop new skills, enhance your existing knowledge or simply boost your career, the ANC 2010 program has been designed so you can create a customized schedule that fits your own educational needs and earn Key Area Hours toward certification.

The ANC 2010 education session tracks are:

Operations: Presentations in this track will demonstrate the importance of establishing a school nutrition environment where policies and procedures ensure worker safety and the safety and quality of all menus. Key topics include: Commodities, Food Preparation & Production, Facility Design, Menu Planning, Procurement & Purchasing and Safety & Sanitation.

Nutrition: These sessions will cover the A-to-Zs of nutrition, including how school meal, snack and à la carte items contribute to healthy eating habits and how school nutrition personnel are actively involved in nutrition education at the school level. Key topics include: Dietary Guidelines, Nutrition and Personal Health.

Administration: Presentations will focus on ways to manage and administer the challenges of today’s school nutrition program, including ensuring sound business and financial practices, human resources excellence and district organization. Key topics include: Budget & Business Planning, Cost Management, Employee Retention, Leadership Training and Interpersonal Skills.

Communications & Marketing: These presentations will highlight ways to promote a positive image of school nutrition programs and work with the school community and allied organizations to promote nutritious food and nutrition education. Key topics include: Lunch and Breakfast Weeks, Customer Service, Promotion, Public Relations and Public Speaking.

The number of preapproved CEUs that will be awarded for ANC 2010 is 23. The CEUs awarded assumes that members attend 23 hours of educational programming during the conference, including education sessions, general sessions, exhibits, culinary demonstrations and the Child Nutrition Showcase. The 23 CEUs do not include the Pre-Conference sessions.

Also, back by popular demand, ANC once again will feature Hot Topics sessions. SNA will identify the most- timely sessions much closer to the conference dates in order to offer you current information and resources to bring you up to speed on emerging issues that impact you and your program. These sessions will be indicated by a chili pepper icon in the ANC Program Guide.
