For over 20 years, SNF has been raising funds to provide SNA members the opportunity to achieve their higher education goals through a wide variety of scholarships. To date, SNF has awarded members over $1.6 million in scholarships.

School Nutrition Foundation 4-in-1 Scholarship:

When you apply using the online 4-in-1 application, you will be automatically considered for all four scholarships: 

  • SNF Professional Growth
  • Schwan’s Food Service
  • Winston/SNF Build Your Future
  • Nancy Curry

Please review the following prior to applying for the 4-in-1 scholarship as some application/eligibility details have changed:

  • Up to $2,500 will be awarded to each recipient for each of the following: SNF Professional Growth, Schwan’s Food Service, and Winston Industries Build Your Future Scholarships
  • One scholarship of $500 is awarded for the Nancy Curry Scholarship
  • Applicant must be an active member for a minimum of one year from February 1, 2012 with the School Nutrition Association (SNA) and have a history of employment in school foodservice. If you need to confirm membership, please call 1-800-877-8822. Children of SNA members are no longer eligible to apply for scholarships.
  • Scholarships are for SNA members who are enrolled or will be enrolled in a degree program at a vocational/technical, undergraduate, graduate or post graduate level in the United States. The program of study should fall into one or more of the SNA Keys to Excellence subject areas. Visit www.schoolnutrition.org/keys to learn more.

SNF Professional Growth Scholarship 

The School Nutrition Foundation's (SNF) Professional Growth Scholarship is funded by the School Nutrition Association (SNA) members through a designated fundraising event. Scholarships of up to $2,500 each are awarded.

Schwan's Food Service Scholarship

Schwan’s Food Service, Inc makes an annual donation of $50,000 which provides funds to the School Nutrition Foundation’s scholarship program. This scholarship enables us to “foster good nutrition in school lunch programs and to improve school foodservice management”.  Scholarships of up to $2,500 each are awarded.

Winston Industries Build Your Future Scholarship

Winston Industries contributes funds to the School Nutrition Foundation to provide scholarships for school nutrition professionals nationwide. Scholarships of up to $2,500 each are awarded.

Nancy Curry Scholarship

Funded by Handgards, Inc. and friends of Nancy, this scholarship is for SNA members employed in school foodservice. One scholarship of $500 is awarded.

ANC First Timer Scholarship

Since 2003, SNF has awarded over $170,000 in scholarships to assist SNA members attending ANC for the first time. These members have been able to take advantage of the valuable educational and professional development opportunities to advance their careers and grow the school nutrition profession.

The multiple $500 scholarships may be used to cover registration and travel expenses associated with attending ANC. Only SNA members from the employee or manager category are eligible for this scholarship and they must be nominated by their district director. The district director must be attending ANC as well.

Funding for the ANC First Timer Scholarship is made possible by Winston Industries.

Awards are made on a first come, first served basis.Before completing the application, have the following information available:

  • Director’s contact information
  • Director’s ANC registration and proof of payment
  • Address information where scholarship check should be sent

GED Jump Start Scholarship

The GED Jump Start Scholarship provides eligible individuals with funds to pay for GED classes, GED study materials, and the GED test fee. To qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must be a School Nutrition Association member, not currently have a high school diploma or a GED diploma, and plan on earning a GED within one year of receiving the scholarship.

Kathleen Stitt Award 

The Kathleen Stitt Award is presented to a graduate student or faculty member participating in the Child Nutrition Showcase at SNA's Annual National Conference (ANC). The $500 award is to help defray travel expenses incurred to attend ANC.

The 2012 Kathleen Stitt Award went to Monica Fowler for her Child Nutrition Showcase presentation, “Connecting the Dots to MyPlate."

Award Selection Criteria
Open to a graduate student enrolled full-time in an MS or PhD program at an accredited college or university or to a faculty member employed at an accredited college or university. Proof of student status must accompany application.

  • Applicant must be a member of SNA.
  • Applicant must be accepted to participate in The Child Nutrition Showcase at SNA's Annual National Conference.
  • Applicant must submit a completed application and supporting documentation.
  • Applicant must provide an itemized budget.

Josephine Martin National Policy Fellow

Dr. Martin is a pioneer in the field of child nutrition. Launching her career at the Georgia Department of Education in 1950 as the assistant school lunch director, she soon became a vocal advocate for child nutrition, influencing legislation on the community, state and federal levels.

The Josephine Martin National Policy Fellow will be able to travel to Washington, D.C., for SNA's Legislative Action Conference - all expenses paid up to $3,000. These expenses will cover travel, hotel, conference registration and a meal per diem.

 Winston Equipment Award 

SNF and Winston Industries are committed to school food service.  Each year since 2007, the Winston Industries Equipment Award Grant program has awarded equipment to one school district needing improvement of its school meal kitchen facilities.

Congratulations to the 2013 winner of the Winston Equipment Award Grant: Renee Frederick, Food Services Supervisor, Warrior Run (Pa.) School District!
