Core Course Approval
All Core Courses and State equivalent courses must be approved by SNA. Core Courses are Nutrition Education or Sanitation/Safety workshops, seminars or online courses that meet objectives and goals which help to achieve best practices. These courses must be a minimum 10 hours of instructional time.
- 10 Hours Approved Nutrition Education Course (i.e. Healthy EDGE or SNA-approved equivalent course)
- AND
- 10 Hours Approved Sanitation & Safety Course (i.e. ServSafe or SNA-approved equivalent course)
Key Area Program Approval
Key Area Programs are workshops, seminars or online courses that are in line with the Keys to Excellence and must be a minimum 2 hours of instructional time:
- Key Area 1 - Operations
- Key Area 2 – Nutrition
- Key Area 3 – Administration
- Key Area 4 – Communications/Marketing
Offering Key Area Programs within a State
Third party associations offering Key Area programs within a state must receive approval from SNA State Affiliate. Please contact Shantal Hall, Certification & Credentialing Manager at shall@schoolnutrition.org for the Key Area Program Approval Form for your SNA State Affiliate.
Offering Key Area Programs in More Than One State or Nationally
Third party associations offering Key Area Courses in more than one state must receive approval from SNA Headquarters - Download the Key Area Program Approval Form (Word)
Continuing Education Unit (CEU) Program Approval
CEUs should reflect job-related growth experiences and must be a minimum 1 hour of instructional time. CEUs do not have to be formal/classroom training. CEUs can be food shows, workshops, online courses, chapter meetings, exhibits or in-service training
Offering CEU Programs within a State
