SNF Announces New Bridges to Wellness Nutrition Education Lessons!
July 26, 2007 -- SNA and the School Nutrition Foundation announced the launch of Bridges to Wellness: Connecting School Meals and Classroom Learning on July 16 at SNA’s Annual National Conference 2007 in Chicago. This new nutrition education program incorporates cafeteria connections into classroom-based interactive nutrition education lessons for students in grades 5-10. Each set of three lessons builds upon a consistent theme targeted to students in grades 5-6, 7-8, and 9-10. The first set of lessons is now available at www.schoolnutrition.org/bridgestowellness along with additional program information. This set of lessons focuses on 3-A-Day and the Nutrition Package of Dairy. The next set of lessons will incorporate messages and activities based on the “food groups to encourage” recommendations from the 2005 Dietary Guidelines recommendations will be posted this fall.
SNF developed Bridges to Wellness through partnership with the National Dairy Council. All lessons have been developed and reviewed by registered dietitians and have also been reviewed by teachers and school nutrition operators in multiple states.
