Grassroots

Learn the issues, use the resources, get active and make your voice heard. The School Nutrition Association’s history of grassroots activism spans from lobbying for the establishment of a nationwide school feeding program resulting in the National School Lunch Act of 1946 to fighting for funding and policies that make it possible to serve nutritious meals to our students. Whether it was pilot testing what became the School Breakfast Program in the late 1960’s or ‘school lunching’ Congress in the latter part of the 1990’s, the grassroots action of school nutrition professionals was and remains vital to accomplishing SNA’s mission of ensuring good nutrition and nutrition education for all children.
