Thousands Gather in Kansas City for the School Nutrition Industry’s Largest Event

SNA’s Annual National Conference 2013, July 14-17 in Kansas City, to feature healthy trends in school meals

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. (July 11, 2013) – Next week, nearly 6,500 school nutrition professionals will meet at School Nutrition Association’s (SNA) Annual National Conference to taste test healthy new foods and recipes for school menus and pick up tips for strengthening meal programs from colleagues and experts across the country.

SNA’s 67th Annual National Conference (ANC) is scheduled for July 14-17 in Kansas City, MO. ANC 2013 will offer more than 90 education breakout sessions, networking opportunities and the largest exhibit hall in school nutrition, featuring booths packed with nutritious foods and beverages, services, equipment and technology.

ANC 2013 offers an opportunity to understand trends and challenges facing school nutrition programs nationwide:

  • The largest exhibit hall in the school foodservice industry: 849 booths from 381 companies, on approximately 180,000 square feet of space. Exhibitors include suppliers of food, beverages, equipment, software/hardware technology and nutrition education resources. On display will be a wide variety of whole grain products, low fat and low sodium items, fruits and vegetables, low fat dairy foods, nutritious snacks and much more.
  • Six culinary demonstrations featuring innovative school recipes like Watermelon & Citrus Herb Chicken.
  • Education sessions on topics including: new nutrition standards for school breakfast, reducing sodium, Farm to School, food allergies, food safety, nutrition education, managing costs and more.
  • General session speakers include: Al Roker, NBC’s Today Show Co-host; Lisa Ling, journalist, executive producer and host of Our America; Jarrett J. Krosoczka, author/illustrator of the popular Lunch Lady graphic novel series and founder of School Lunch Superhero Day. National awards of excellence in school nutrition will also be presented.
