Tami Cline Named SNA Industry Member of the Year

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 7, 2005 – Tami Cline, owner and consultant, Cline Consulting, LLC, was named the third recipient of the School Nutrition Association’s (SNA) Individual Industry Member of the Year Award.

Cline, who has been involved in child nutrition programs for twenty-two years, was nominated by SNA past president Gertrude Applebaum for the important contributions she has made in all aspects of her career. Her wide range of experiences and leadership roles has had an undeniable impact on the child nutrition industry.  

Cline began her career in child nutrition in 1983 and has served in the public sector with the Massachusetts Department of Education, Boston Public Schools and Brookline Public Schools; the non-profit sector, with the School Nutrition Association and the National Dairy Council; the private sector with Schwan’s Food Service and School-Link Technologies and most recently as the owner and consultant of Cline Consulting. Cline has been an active SNA member her entire career and has held several leadership roles, including:

  • State President, Massachusetts School Nutrition Association (1989)
  • Member and Chair, SNA Nutrition Committee (1989-1990)
  • Member, Child Nutrition Foundation Board (2000-2001)
  • Member and Chair, Marketing Advisory Board (2001-2004)
  • Member, Member Services Committee (2004-2005)
  • Co-Chair, Keys to Excellence Task Force (2002-2003)
  • Chair, A Possible Dream Gala (2004)

She has attended SNA’s Annual National Conference every year since 1985.

Cline is currently completing a doctorate degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional management from Iowa State University in order to better assist her clients and help elevate the professionalism of the child nutrition industry. This past spring she returned to SNA headquarters to assist with planning of the 2005 Legislative Action Conference.

Cline’s career has been devoted to the advancement of child nutrition. In nominating Cline for the award, Applebaum wrote, “To come face to face with Tami Cline is to know a person that is passionate, committed and positive in every endeavor she undertakes.” 

Join SNA members in congratulating Tami when the 2005 Individual Industry Member of the Year Award is presented during SNA’s 59th Annual National Conference in Baltimore on Monday, July 18, 2005. Tami Cline, along with the 2005 SNA Outstanding Director of the Year, will also be recognized at the Child Nutrition Foundation’s “A Possible Dream” Gala on Monday, March 13, 2005, at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC.

The School Nutrition Association (SNA),, is a national, non-profit professional organization representing more than 55,000 members who provide high-quality, low-cost meals to students across the country. The Association and its members are dedicated to feeding children safe and nutritious meals. Founded in 1946, SNA is the only association devoted exclusively to protecting and enhancing children’s health and well being through school meals and sound nutrition education.
