September 25, 2012—Do you know of a school nutrition leader or innovator who deserves to be nominated for a national Foodservice Achievement Management Excellence (FAME) Award? There’s still time to submit your nomination—the deadline has been extended to October 10, 2012.
For close to 25 years, the FAME Awards have recognized those who raise the school nutrition bar for others to follow. These are individuals who have triumphed over challenges and provide insightful and innovative solutions to the complex issues that are the hallmark of this business. If this describes you, your supervisor or a colleague, take the time to submit your nomination today.
Winning a FAME award is a tremendous honor, but being nominated is, as well. The nominations for this and other school nutrition awards programs often are used as leads and resources by School Nutrition, the flagship publication of SNA, and other foodservice media to showcase the profession’s best practices and creative strategies. Participation in the FAME Awards program gives you the chance to shine the spotlight on your district and help spread the word about the important role that school nutrition professionals play in contributing to the health and welfare of America’s children. In this time of new meal pattern regulations, it’s more beneficial than ever for school nutrition professionals to get the word out about their achievements, not only to receive potential recognition for their accomplishments but also to share these successes with their colleagues, who may find them valuable and inspirational.
There are six award categories:
● School Nutrition Director of the Year (must have more than 12 years of director experience)● Leadership Award (12 or fewer years of experience)● Rising Star Award (five or fewer years of director experience)● Special Achievement Award (10,000 or fewer enrollment)● Spirit Award● Friend of Child Nutrition Award (advocate such as a principal, state association representative or community leader, going above and beyond scope of normal professional duties; child nutrition directors/department heads are not eligible)
Nominations will be taken online or via a downloadable form at www.fameawards.net until October 10, 2012. Eligible nominees include SNA members in good standing. Make sure FAME doesn’t pass you by!
