New Donated Foods and Reimbursement Rates Announced at ANC

The new dollar value of USDA Foods donated to schools and the new reimbursement rate for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and National School Breakfast Program (NSBP) were announced at SNA’s 2014 Annual National Conference.

The national value of donated USDA Foods for distribution to schools participating in NSLP has been increased by one and one half cents per meal. To see the Federal Register announcement, click here.

For the contiguous states, USDA provides a five cent increase in reimbursement rates for meals served as part of the NSLP and a four cent increase for meals served as part of the NSBP. To see the Federal Register announcement, click here.

The changes in the value of USDA Foods donations and reimbursement rates are in accordance with the average increase provided in previous years. SNA is appreciative of the added assistance but believes that the slight increase does not adequately off-set the significantly increasing costs that schools are facing as a result of the new meal pattern requirements.
